Built by a developer who knew there could be a better way
Image Optimize started as something I built for myself. In fact, I have been using this tool daily for over a year now. The tools I was using every day were slow, inflexible, and never quite fit my workflow. Image Optimize has saved me countless hours of work, and I wanted to make it available to others who have experienced the same frustrations.
The problem
As a web developer, optimizing images is something I do on every project. Hero images, product photos, blog thumbnails, they all need to be the right format, the right size, and compressed just enough that the page loads fast but still looks sharp.
For a long time I bounced between a handful of free tools and they all had real gaps. No batch processing, no format conversion, no way to resize in the same step. Or the compression control was just a lossy/lossless toggle with no way to actually tune it. I was spending hours every week running images through multiple tools just to get the output I wanted.
Why I built this
I wanted one tool that handled format conversion, compression, and resizing all in a single pass. Something with enough control that I could actually trust the output, fast enough that it didn't break my flow, and that remembered my preferred settings so I wasn't starting from scratch every time.
Nothing I found did all of that, so I built it myself.
